Mixing Water from Water-Cement Ratio
Easyconcrete mixwater-cement ratio
A concrete mix uses 350 kg of cement per cubic metre at a water-cement ratio of 0.45 by mass. The mixing water required is most nearly:
- A145 kg/m³
- B158 kg/m³
- C175 kg/m³
- D195 kg/m³

Answer: B. 158 kg/m³
The water-cement ratio is water mass divided by cement mass, so water = 0.45 × 350 = 158 kg/m³, or about 158 litres. Dividing instead of multiplying gives 778 kg/m³, which would be an absurd amount of water and is a useful sanity check.
