Sealing Unlicensed Designer's Drawings
Easysealresponsible charge
A PE is asked to seal a set of drawings prepared by an unlicensed designer at another firm. The PE did not supervise the work. The PE should:
- ASeal them if the designer is experienced
- BSeal them after a quick review
- CRefuse to seal them
- DSeal only the calculations

Answer: C. Refuse to seal them
Rule: an engineer may seal only work prepared under their responsible charge. How to read the figure: the PE never supervised the unlicensed designer (the dashed 'no supervision' link). Therefore the PE must refuse to seal. Experience of the designer, a quick review, or sealing only part of the set does not create responsible charge.
