Concrete Volume for Slab and Footings
Easyestimatingquantity takeoff
A foundation consists of a 25 m × 40 m slab on grade 150 mm thick, plus eight isolated footings each 2.5 m × 2.5 m × 0.6 m deep. Neglecting waste, the total volume of concrete required is most nearly:
- A30 m³
- B150 m³
- C180 m³
- D230 m³

Answer: C. 180 m³
Slab volume is 25 × 40 × 0.15 = 150 m³. Each footing is 2.5 × 2.5 × 0.6 = 3.75 m³, and eight of them total 30 m³. The combined volume is 150 + 30 = 180 m³. Quoting 150 m³ counts only the slab and is the most common omission in a takeoff of this kind.
